January 11 - 13, 2013Abstract: The purpose of this study is to explore the various victimizations faced by parolees and the effects on overall wellbeing of prison inmates. This qualitative study has used a mixture of survey and focus group discussion methods to collect data from male convicts who are paroled more than once from prison. The objectives of this research are: i) to explore the perception before leaving the prison and the actual experience of victimization among parolees; ii) to identify the sources and forms of victimization faced by the parolees; iii) to study the consequences of victimization in the wellbeing and future life orientation of prisoners.
